What Are We Doing Now?

As a Family

I haven’t updated this now page in almost a year, and I won’t be catching you up on everything, as there are blog posts for that, but here are some of the things we’re engaged in now that we’re excited about.

  • We’ve spent the last month here in Bali, and are loving the climate, the community, and the general feeling here.
  • In a few days, we’ll be traveling to Kerala, India for a visa run for 2.5 weeks – this will be our first time in India, and we’re really excited about it.
  • We finished a really fulfilling Family Adventure Summit in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Over 400 people came and left inspired and connected with new supportive friends. We announced that next year, the event will be in Ubud, Bali, and we’re already 2/3 sold out for next year with 10 months to go! It’s great to see that people love it so much.
  • We launched a new event called the Family Adventure Academy. This is a 3-day bootcamp for parents interested in having a long-term travel adventure with their family. Next year, we’re planning to hold it in Seattle from Aug 16-18.
  • Jen and I attended an Inner Guidance facilitator training event earlier this month that was transformational for us on many levels, as we gained new insights into our own truth and gained the confidence to stand in it more fully, as well as support others in their journeys.
  • We’re looking forward to holding our At Home in the World Retreats this year in both Bali (Feb/Mar) and Transylvania (July).

Brandon

  • Due to my passion for the other projects I’m working on, I recently made the decision to step down (or retire?) as CEO of Music Teacher’s Helper, while hiring someone else to take my place. While this was not an easy decision, after nearly 15 years, it felt like time. I’m trusting this will infuse the company with needed energy and leadership to take it to the next level.
  • I continue to write my Weekly NOW newsletter each week. Having now written over 113 editions, it’s a fun way for me to reflect on what I’ve learned each week and share it with those who are interested.
  • I’m currently in planning mode for 2019, making sure I incorporate the most important things I want to learn and do, and the ways I want to develop myself and my relationships. My planning processes comes largely from my Dream Achievement Blueprint program, which has been super helpful for me in gaining clarity, being more productive, and staying present while enjoying taking action.

Jen

  • Jennifer is continuing to enjoy coaching her clients as a certified High Performance Coach, and her clients have given some raving reviews. Jennifer and I are also working together to expand the EmbraceBeing.com website to include some additional offerings.
  • Jen continues to enjoy weekly voice lessons through Skype.

Emily (age 15)

  • Emily is really passionate about the environment. She spends a lot of her time doing research on climate change, reading scientific articles and reports, and dreaming about solutions and how she can help. She also has plans in the works to create a podcast on the topic.
  • Emily continues to draw in new clients and retain happy ones in her video editing and production business, Crystal Cut Studios. She also edits videos for our family travels, which has been great, as she is very skilled. (For example, see this one she made about our time in Ljubljana, Slovenia)
  • Emily still loves to draw, animate, create music, exercise, and more. But she’s very focused on her goals, and wants to prepare herself for university, or whatever may come in future years.
  • Both Emily and Marie are starting a small school in Bali with some of their friends, where they will study different topics together, according to a schedule they’ve set, learning through textbooks and online resources. It’s great to see them take their education into their own hands.

Marie (age 13)

  • Marie’s current passion is aerial silks. She loved taking classes in San Miguel, and we have now installed silks in our house in Bali for her to practice on.
  • Marie has taught herself how to use the professional Cinema4D modeling and animation software (free educational license), and spends hours creating amazing characters and worlds.
  • She has grown her Jamnastics Youtube channel to over 1,100 subscribers and continues making intros and other videos for loves of the Animal Jam game. She also helps us edit some videos for our family as well, such as this one for Maui, Hawaii.
  • Both Emily and Marie are starting a small school in Bali with some of their friends, where they will study different topics together, according to a schedule they’ve set, learning through textbooks and online resources. It’s great to see them take their education into their own hands.

Aysia (age 7)

  • Aysia is all about ballet. Her teacher in San Miguel recognized such passion and focus in her that she offered to teach her privately twice per week in addition to her twice a week group classes. And when we left for Bali, her teacher even offered to start teaching online so she could keep up the relationship with Aysia. And Aysia can’t get enough. Outside of her lessons, she loves watching documentaries, reading books, and studying all she can about ballet.
  • Aysia also enjoys aerial silks, as taught to her by Marie.
  • She’s also happy to be back in Bali where we have a swimming pool, so she can take a dip when she feels like it.
