Destinations

In 2009, we sold our house to travel the world as a family, experience new cultures and languages, and expand our minds. So far, we’ve been to over 36 countries and dozens of cities and towns. Below, you can find a map of the highlights. Clicking any location will take you to posts about that location. (Note: Some of the places we’ve traveled may not have yet made it into blog posts or on this map.)

We have over 9 years of experience traveling with kids of every age from 0 to 14, and we’re passionate about encouraging other families who are interested in long-term travel.

Families who are interested in doing this often have many questions from education and finance, to packing and luggage, to safety and healthcare, to locations and community. If you’d like support in your travel journey, be sure to check out the annual Family Adventure Summit conference where you can meet other inspiring families who are doing this in exciting locations around the world. Also be sure to check out our Family Travel Accelerator program where we show give LIVE monthly training sharing what we’ve learned on our journey, along with Q&A for you to get your questions answered and get the support you need.

Shopping Spree – What Gear Am I Replacing From What Was Stolen? Travel

Due to last week’s theft, where I lost nearly everything, I have a lot of shopping to do. However, being in Europe, it doesn’t make sense to buy most items here, as the majority of products I need either aren’t readily available, or are much more expensive than buying through Amazon in the U.S. So I’ve been filling up my digital shopping cart and getting...

Exploring Transylvania Romania / Travel

Transylvania took us completely by surprise. It is nothing like we expected. Not that we really thought we’d see vampires, bats, and monsters in castles (and we haven’t), but we didn’t realize how culturally rich, historically preserved, naturally lush, and energetically grounded this place is. We came here mostly to run through the program for our At Home in the World Retreat, which we will...

Spain / Travel

We did it! We walked 180km as a family from Trabadelo to Santiago de Compostela, Spain, over the course of 9 days. With several hours per day of walking, this was a fairly intense experience for us. Our friends had walked much further, having started near the French border in the Pyrenees mountains. We joined them for the last stretch of the trip a couple...

Travel

Having been at this “travel the world” thing for over 9 years, you’d think we would have learned a few lessons. But a couple recent experiences have shown us how easy it is to forget or to become lazy in our approach to handling both travel details and safety. I share this to help other travelers out there avoid the same mistakes, and to keep...

A Gritty and Real Portugal Road Trip Portugal / Travel

While our time in Portugal has been short, we wanted to get a feel for it as a potential destination for the Family Adventure Summit in a future year. We drove from Porto to Lisbon on a 9-day road trip, stopping in Coimbra and Sintra on the way. Here are a few things that stood out to us about our time in Portugal, and photos of some...

San Diego Visit 2017 California / Travel / United States

Back in March 2017, we spent a few weeks in San Diego, California where we attended a conference with some of our friends and team members, visited family, shot some testimonial videos for my Music Teacher’s Helper business, and visited a few beautiful parts around this city. Our 12-year old daughter Marie edited a fun video from footage I took during our time there, which you can...

Bali / Indonesia / Travel

We fell in love with Bali, and especially the town of Ubud, when we first visited this beautiful island in 2012. Since our first visit, we have returned again and again. In 2017 we returned to Bali and this time we were pleased to welcome my Father, Stepmother, and my half-brother to explore the island with us. We had an amazing time and created this...

DCIM100MEDIADJI_0058.JPG Mexico / San Miguel de Allende

San Miguel de Allende is a colorful town. The sounds of mariachis echo through the street as you get a whiff of the taco stand down the block. Its brick buildings and cobblestone streets are mesmerizing and it may feel as though you’ve just stepped into the past. With all this excitement, and with so many things catching your eye you may be confused on...
